🥀 “He had a real knack for making me feel stupid, 🥀 “He had a real knack for making me feel stupid, though. He didn’t need to do it. No, he did it because he wanted to.”🪻Quicksilver (2/5) 🌟🌟I truly wish I enjoyed this one because it began with such a promising start. I was enthralled by the world and the magic… but then… Kingfisher arrived…I am the type of person who pretends like romances in books are real life situations and therefore I am not a fan of toxic relationships that are romanticized. My issue largely lies in the romanticization of the toxicity and not the toxicity being depicted in the first place. However, I think there can be a space for romanticization of toxicity as some readers can find catharsis within the literature; I am just not one of those readers.📖 ReviewKingfisher calling Saeris a “stupid, idiotic human” were not endearing me to him or their relationship working out whatsoever. He would love bomb only to pull away his affection. Berating her, in combination with physical abuse (hurling her around, making her touch the quicksilver knowing it would hurt her, choking her without consent first) made me quite triggered and I considered DNFing it.What kept me reading this story was the magic system and my general affection for faerie romance tropes. Of which this book attempts to hit every one under Zilvaren’s two suns. I thought the interstellar travel with the quicksilver was super cool and a fascinating way to relate the idea of “science confused for magic.”It should be said that I originally rated this book 3 stars because I was trying to not be too harsh on it since I still enjoyed some of it. However, I felt the need to remake my review and discuss more of my feelings on it to give a truthful review.☕️ But I will say…. “Your mind is as shallow as a fucking teacup” is a genuinely funny insult (still not something you should be saying to the woman you know is your mate, though)I do not have it in me to read Brimstone considering how upsetting this book was for me.#fantasy #romantasy #bookreview #fantasyromance #romance

Kelvin Gemstone must be protected at all costs; he’s my favorite.⁉️What was the last show you binged?🚨post edit!!🚨after letting Quicksilver sit for a few days, I don’t think 3 stars properly conveys how upset it made me…. So I’ll probably made a full post to address my opinions on the book#memereview #bookrecs #wrap #bookreview #fantasy

Come finish Wolf Worm by T. Kingfisher with me! Wh Come finish Wolf Worm by T. Kingfisher with me! What was the last horror book you finished?Book Review 3.75/5 🌟🌟🌟.75As a NC native who lives not far from the events of this novel, I can no longer leave my house without checking woodland creatures for botflies. The bug horror of this novel is something which will haunt my nightmares for the foreseeable future…. Or at least as long as I live in this state.I liked Sonia but all the others were a little bland. Halder was an acceptable villain, but didn’t stand out to me very much. He communicated the themes of “the real monsters are humans” effectively, but that was all I really took from him.Sonia questioning Halder about whether he’d published his findings for the scientific community and concluding he was not science because he hadn’t was a great scene. I loved her line of questioning showing a level of gray morality in the experiments he was doing.I thought the plot was going to be a lot more grand than it was. It was very demure and felt akin to a classic gothic than a modern one.I felt myself wanting a lot more from this book. It taught me a lot about bugs and the state I’ve lived in most of my life, and for that I really enjoyed it. For the most part it just fell a little flat.⁉️ What did you think of Wolf Worm? Do you have any book recs which feel similar to this one?#readwithme #comewithme #bookreview #bookworm #reading
